Through the USDA there are many programs available for selected rural areas to help in many capacities. Areas of help for business include: Business and Industry Loan Guarantee, Rural Business Development Grants and Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program to name a few. Alabama Tax Incentives for Historic Properties
The Alabama Historical Commission has programs available for historical buildings. Old downtown areas such as Alex City are full of old buildings that may qualify for tax credits under this program. Please check with The Alabama Historical Commission for more details.
East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission
The East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission is a public agency dedicated to providing resources to new and existing businesses through programs such as their revolving loan fund allowing qualified businesses to obtain capital at below market rates. SBA (U.S. Small Business Administration)
The Small Business Administration (SBA) is a government program administered through partnering with qualified banking institutions. The SBA is available to help small business owners and entrepreneurs pursue the American dream. This is the only cabinet-level federal agency fully dedicated to small business and provides counseling, capital, and contracting expertise.
(OJT) On-the-Job Training
On-the-Job Training (OJT) is a federal program funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act which lets you hire and train skilled workers and get reimbursed for your efforts. Our local contact for this program is Linda Forbus. Her contact info is as follows:
